My 2007 road trip culminated in a month long exploration of Alaska's parks and wild places. We spent 9 days in the deep Denali backcountry, lots of time exploring Wrangell St. Elias and even got down to Kenai. That's a lot of driving, and we figured out exactly what it feels like to jam three big fellas into a two seater pickup for a month!

Inspiration hit around the campfire in the North Cascades, 2006. We would drive to Alaska next summer; not in an all out blitz to the North, but taking in everything along the Rocky Mountain Corridor along the way. In 2007, accompanied by my long time wilderness exploration partner, Craig and alternately by my girlfriend, father and dog I spent two and a half months exploring the wilderness corridors between Montana and Denali National Park. This Gallery is the first set of images from this journey.

Stretching from Lassen Peak and Mount Shasta Northward to Mount Baker and the Canadian border, the Cascade range is never far from ones conciousnes in the Northwest. This diverse volcanic chain is not only a constant reminder of our membership in the Pacific ring of fire, but also serves to shape and generate climate patterns and ecosystems throughout the region.
