Moonrise during sunset in the Enchantment Lakes Wilderness, Washington.
Some backpacking trips happen on a whim. This one was planned. My dad had booked the permit for the Enchantments months before, he was visiting from back East. I had done several day hikes in the area when I lived in Washington. The Enchantments were close, and I loved camping down along Icicle Creek, just outside of Leavenworth. Despite a familiarity with the area, I had no idea the sense of wilderness that we would encounter on this trip. This area is full of Jagged sawtooth ridges, blue glacial tarns and mountain goats everywhere I turned. We camped just South of this lake. I had scouted the shot during the daytime, and returned to setup minutes before sunset.
