Crisp fall mornings in the Eastern Sierra can't be beaten. Fellow photographer Diego Panasiti and I were stoked to drive down to the High Sierra in the fall of 2015 for one last shot at fall colors. The alarm went off early at the lodge, and we rolled up canyon to shoot the dissipating inversion at sunrise. As we walked up to the ridge we were passed by a very professional looking photographer heading back down. All he said to us was "Ya missed it!" I have no idea what he meant by that, as the sun hadn't yet risen. Still, he gave up the spot I wanted, and we took in an epic Sierra sunrise through the fog.
