Highway 56 runs through the most remote river valley in the lower 48 states, the Bull River valley in Northwest Montana. This drainage for the Cabinet Mountain Range has countless sloughs and oxbows, full of moose, bear and elk. This slough is a favorite early summer reflection spot for me, and an old field site from graduate school!
