Ritter and Banner Reflected
The Ansel Adams Wilderness hugs Yosemite National Park to the Southeast. It's a backpackers paradise, dotted with alpine lakes, great trail access (it hosts both the PCT and The JMT for a while) and austere off-trail options. Mount Ritter and Mount Banner are almost always visible in this wilderness and are popular targets for alpine climbers. I crafted this shot early on the last morning of a backpack trip. The brilliance of sunrise had passed, and the light was turning from oranges and purples to crisp blue and gold. I had geared up to head out, thoughts on flip-flops and a cheeseburger, intent on charging the miles back to the trailhead. As I walked around the lake I found myself stopping constantly to eye the foreground, and the interplay of the reflection with it.
